A hardware or software machine that performs a task on behalf of a human automatically. (See automation) Robots can be physical machines with one or more arms, wheels, tracks, or other devices, or be software “bots” that perform automated user interface or API tasks. Robots are not inherently intelligent and often don’t have a humanlike appearance. Most often, robots do not use AI technologies and are simply programmed or rules-based using basic detection and operation systems.
