Coined in the 1990s, the term “collaborative robot”, or cobot more simply, is a robot that operates in conjunction with, and in close proximity to humans to perform their tasks. Cobots are meant to help and assist humans and enhance human capabilities and performance, rather than be caged off and separated from humans like industrial robots.
