Vehicles that are able to fully operate with minimal, if any, human help or intervention needed to steer, accelerate and brake, or perform any other function related to driving and navigation. Autonomous vehicles are rated in one of 6 levels of autonomy:
- Level 0 – No autonomous features
- Level 1 – Only one autonomous feature with driver in full control
- Level 2 – Combination of two or more advanced autonomous tasks with the driver in control
- Level 3 – Autonomous vehicle can operate without driver in full control in certain conditions
- Level 4 – Fully autonomous vehicle with constraints and driver awareness
- Level 5 – Fully autonomous vehicle that can operate in every situation
