AI Use Case series: AI in Manufacturing [AI Today Podcast]

use case AI in manufacturing

AI is being used in every industry and manufacturing is no exception. In this episode of AI Today hosts Kathleen Walch and Ron Schmelzer discuss how AI is being used in manufacturing.

We discuss how AI is improving the manufacturing process. AI-driven robots are used for automating repetitive tasks, such as assembly, welding, and material handling. Computer vision is helping with quality control. And, AI is a core component of smart factories, where machines, sensors, and systems are interconnected and communicate with each other.

Additionally, we discuss how AI is being used to keep operations running smoothly. Predictive maintenance is helping analyze data to predict when equipment is likely to fail. We also discuss how AI optimizes supply chain management by predicting demand, optimizing inventory levels, and improving logistics. Also, AI optimizes production schedules by analyzing data from various sources, including order volumes, machine availability, and workforce capacity.

Design and prototyping is another area AI is successfully being applied. We discuss how AI is helping accelerate product design and prototyping by using generative design. Demand forecasting is also an area when AI acts as an augmented intelligence tool. AI improves demand forecasting accuracy by analyzing historical sales data, market trends, and external factors such as economic indicators.
