Public sector agencies, which include federal and national governments, provincial, state, and local government agencies, are increasingly making use of AI. AI in government is having an impact on everything from facial recognition and computer vision technology to AI enabled chatbots. In this episode of AI Today hosts Kathleen Walch and Ron Schmelzer share how AI is being adopted and AI applications governments.
We discuss how AI is helping improve government administration and reduce bureaucracy. Public sector agencies are regularly bogged down in paper and people-based processes. AI systems keep an eye on data to increase efficiency, reduce errors, and speed up, or eliminate legacy processes.
We also discuss how AI is helping to improve the use of resources. Government agencies, especially at the state and local level, need to maintain fleets of different vehicles and various equipment. This includes vehicles that provide public safety or infrastructure support. Using AI for predictive maintenance, government agencies minimize downtime of that equipment saving both money and unnecessary services and services.
AI is also helping improve citizen engagement. AI-powered chatbots and conversational agents allow citizens to interact with government agencies in the language of their choice and at any time of the day. Chatbots can help walk citizens through different experiences that may be confusing such as permitting and licensing. Chatbots are also able to help guide citizens on how to apply for services.
AI is enhancing government response, improving services, and increasing value across all levels. Tune in to hear all the ways AI is being used.
