Analytics are statistical and other methods to gain informational insight from data. Since data is the heart of AI, it makes sense analytics should be understood. In this episode of the AI Today podcast hosts Kathleen Walch and Ron Schmelzer define the terms Analytics, Data Visualization, Descriptive Analytics, Diagnostic Analytics, Predictive Analytics, Proscriptive / Projective Analytics.
Many people may be familiar with predictive analytics, especially since it’s one of the seven patterns of AI. Predictive analytics uses past and current data to help humans make future predictions. It’s used for “What might happen” analysis. In addition, we also explain descriptive, diagnostic, and Proscriptive / Projective Analytics. We explain how these terms relate to AI. And, also why it’s important to know about them.
